Volunteering makes the world a little kinder

We continue to introduce you to SFU volunteers👇

Maxim Mineev is a 4th year student at the Institute of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication of the Southern Federal University. The desire to help his loved ones appeared in his childhood, and now Maxim is the head of the Volunteer Headquarters of the Southern Federal University💪

“I often put the interests of others above my own, I really like to help those in need”

Maxim is about to join the ranks of SFU graduates and is already officially working, so there is not as much time left for volunteer work as he would like. But in his busy schedule, he still finds a few hours a week to help people.

“As soon as the flow of refugees from the LPR and DPR to the Rostov region began, we, SFU volunteers, began to discuss the opening of a humanitarian aid station on the basis of structural units in the city center and in the west, the university supported our initiative,” recalls Maxim.

Maxim leads all the coordination activities of the volunteer headquarters for collecting humanitarian aid, both in person and remotely. Volunteering does not interfere with your studies, Maxim assures, because it is voluntary. Each student decides for himself when he can help at a particular event:

“The last time I went to the International Forum of Civil Participation #WEARETOGETHER was in early December, and then I was already passionate about organizing events for volunteers at our university and participating in all-Russian competitions together with the ex-head of the SFU Volunteer Center. I am immensely glad that there are so many caring people at our university. If a person wants to spend his time helping others, even those he doesn’t know, then he is a true volunteer at heart. Students like these are worth being proud of.”

Maxim is supported by his parents, friends and loved ones.

“My friends are not at all surprised, because they often say that although I may seem cold and serious at first, this is only because I constantly plan my activities in my head. All you have to do is catch me in my free time, I immediately become kind, soft and open and will give myself as much as possible to a conversation, business or simply supporting a loved one, and for me every volunteer of the Southern Federal is already a close person. Whenever possible, I love to hug our volunteers, share my goodness with them, and make this world a little brighter.”

Our volunteers are the brightest stars in the sky. ✨
We say “thank you” for your kindness and invaluable help to everyone who needs it. We love you❤
