The rector of SFU presented a report on the university’s activities for 2021

On April 1, a meeting of the Academic Council was held at the Southern Federal University, at which the rector’s report on the activities of the university over the past year was presented.

The Academic Council began its meeting with pleasant traditions – in a solemn atmosphere we congratulated Professor Yakov Yerusalimsky and Professor Larisa Reznichenko on their anniversaries.

“The past 2021 has become a year of rational choice. We have faced difficult dilemmas more than once, and each time we have successfully overcome all the challenges. The results achieved are the common merit of all university employees. Among the biggest achievements of SFU in 2021, it is necessary to note the increase in the number of scientific publications, the opening of new laboratories, and successful work in the field of transfer of intellectual activity results. One of the main events in the life of our university was the victory in the competition for participation in the state project “Priority 2030,” noted Inna Shevchenko .

In her report, the rector presented an analysis of the results of the university’s educational and research activities and outlined strategic priorities in the development of the university for the current year.

Members of the Academic Council of SFU and invited guests took part in the discussion of the rector’s report, among whom was the Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Gurba .

SFedU President Marina Borovskaya noted in her speech that this year the academic community should take a fresh look at the challenges facing the university:

“We entered this year with high results. But we need to understand that we are now at the stage of formation of a new type of economy. In this regard, we face new challenges. In any case, it is necessary to maintain our value guidelines and continue to focus on the university’s participation in the socio-economic development of not only the region and country, but also the world as a whole.”

Deputy Chairman of the Certification Commission for the Award of Academic Degrees at SFU, Professor Sergei Kurbatov, presented the decisions made by the Certification Commission for approval by the council. Thus, the Academic Council decided to create a permanent dissertation council on historical sciences, to award seven candidates for scientific degrees, as well as to make changes to a number of regulatory documents.

Another important item on the agenda was the election of heads of the departments of space physics and radiophysics of the Faculty of Physics. By decision of the Academic Council, associate professor Irina Acharova and professor Gennady Zargano will continue to head the departments. Rector Inna Shevchenko congratulated the elected heads of departments, wishing them success, development and new ideas.

In addition, during the meeting, the Academic Council made decisions on a number of issues in the field of financial and economic planning, educational activities and infrastructure policy.
