SFEDU GO: laboratory of the IT company “Distillery”

On the basis of IKTIB SFU there is a proprietary laboratory of the IT company “Distillery”.Here, students develop mobile and web applications using the most modern equipment.

Effective interaction between the IT company and the Southern Federal University, in particular with the Institute of Computer Technologies and Information Security, has been carried out for several years. Thanks to this, the Distillery brand laboratory has been operating in building “G” of ITA SFU since December 2020.

According to the director of IKTIB Gennady Veselov, the creation of such classrooms, equipped with the latest technology, helps strengthen partnerships, as well as train highly qualified specialists.

“This laboratory is actively used in the educational process. It is the first at the Institute and Southern Federal University equipped with Apple Mac all-in-one computers, which allows our students to master new technologies that were previously unavailable to them within the university. In addition, Worldskills competitions are held here, project and research activities are carried out,” said Gennady Veselov, director of IKTIB SFU.

Every Friday, the laboratory hosts meetups and master classes with Distillery representatives. Company employees talk about the most current trends in the IT field, conduct interviews and tests.

16 state-of-the-art Apple Mac computers located in the Distillery laboratory allow students to solve problems of any complexity.

“My teams and I are engaged in various creative projects here. Already, two teams are starting their work under the supervision of Distillery, which will implement mobile and web development projects for the city of Taganrog. The company will hire the best students,”said the curator of the Distillery laboratory, Alexander Kozlovsky.

The company carries out joint activities with the Institute in several areas. One of them is industrial practice. Distillery regularly organizes internships for senior students and graduates.

“Students have the opportunity to come to us, try to realize their potential, and hone in practice the skills that they acquired within the walls of the Institute. We also assist the university in conducting exams, providing our employees and experts for the examination committee,” –noted General Director of Distillery Anar Babaev.

In the future, the company plans to participate in the development of training programs, their refinement to the quality standards that modern business requires of graduates and university students when finding employment.

“We believe that the experience gained in this branded laboratory will allow SFU students to reach a high level and subsequently become employees of our company,” concluded Anar Babaev .
