Science in the faces: Vladimir Minkin is one of the most cited scientists in Russia

Today, March 4, celebrates the birthday of the outstanding scientist of the Southern Federal University, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences – Vladimir Isaakovich Minkin. He turns 87 years old.

In 1957, Vladimir Isaakovich graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Rostov State University. After graduation, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the Department of Chemical Technology of the Novocherkassk Chemical Institute. A year later, on the initiative of the dean of the Russian State University, he received a position as an assistant at the department of organic chemistry of the university. In 1959 V.I. Minkin defended his Ph.D. thesis, and in 1967 received the title of professor.

Vladimir Isaakovich became a corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1990, and in 2003 received the position of deputy chairman of the Southern Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is the author and co-author of more than 1000 scientific papers, 70 copyright certificates and 17 monographs.

His scientific works have received great recognition abroad. In 1994, Minkin was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in Great Britain. As a guest expert, Vladimir Isaakovich taught courses at a number of European universities: in Germany, the USA, Canada and Central America.

He is also one of the most cited scientists, with 19,450 citations as of 2021, according to the ISI list of Russian scientists with over 1,000 citations.

IN AND. Minkin has a number of state and international awards, among them the USSR State Prize (1989), the international A. von Humboldt Prize (1999) and many others.
