Do you want to wake up to the cries of cranes? Or maybe a great beach nearby or children’s infrastructure is more important to you? Tsian.Zhurnal has selected villages where a variety of buyers will not get bored!
Choosing a site is not an easy task. But we know how to inspire you! Do not forget that a dacha is not necessarily a closed perimeter of six acres. These are also great opportunities to live a rich life, observe nature, play sports and educate yourself! We have selected for you 10 interesting villages and towns in the Moscow region, each of which has its own highlight.
1. Sumarokovo, Ruzsky district
One of the most interesting options, since the Outpost living history park is located next door. The park is a residential medieval village: the houses here are built using ancient technologies, but they are quite comfortable by modern standards – the owners live in some all year round.
At the same time, interesting events are constantly taking place in the park: festivals, master classes, role-playing games. And, of course, you can’t do without a classic medieval tavern called “The Rusty Crown” – here you can not only have a nice meal of game caught by a local hunter, but also spend the night.
Not far from the “Outpost” there are many plots of land for sale – some of them are intended for farming, so you can continue the original historical theme of the surrounding area and arrange even a stable or a barnyard. But you can simply settle nearby and immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere only when the desire arises.
IMPORTANT
It is worth adding that there are many beautiful reservoirs nearby – the Ruzskoye and Ozerninskoye reservoirs and rivers.
2. Plyoskovo/Drovnino/Yartsevo, TiNAO
The galaxy from the village of Plyoskovo and the villages of Drovnino and Yartsevo is an interesting option for those who would like to live outside the city, give their children a quality education in a top-rated Orthodox school and introduce them to creativity.
In Pleskovo there is a boarding house of the same name on the basis of a comprehensive school. At the same time, numerous clubs are run, starting with a chess club and sports sections (sambo, swimming, ball games) and ending with a television studio and an art school. In addition, the school hosts a youth club of the Russian Geographical Society; exhibitions and other events are regularly held.

The cost of plots here is quite high: for one hundred square meters you will have to pay an average of about 500 thousand rubles. This is not surprising: despite the fact that the territory belongs to New Moscow, local residents receive all the benefits of life in nature – there is an extensive forest around (the Mikhailovsky Forestry reserve), and buses from the village go to the metro.
3. Kratovo, Ramensky district
A dacha in Kratovo is of great value for those who feel involved in the famous Russian intelligentsia. At different times, prominent cultural figures lived here: writer Mikhail Zoshchenko, director Sergei Eisenstein, composers Vladimir Shainsky and Sergei Prokofiev, bard Bulat Okudzhava. Walking along the local streets, looking at the houses in which they created, is a real pleasure!
Another pride of Kratovo is a picturesque forest lake located in a pine forest. Here you can swim, take a boat ride or go fishing.
Today Kratovo remains an old dacha place, but, of course, this is not only a historical heritage: all the city infrastructure (Zhukovsky, Ramenki), a lake and a forest are nearby. The price of a plot here is quite high – one hundred square meters can cost 600–800 thousand rubles.
4. Taldomsky urban district
This area has gone deeper into the Moscow region by more than 100 km – far away. The main reason why we included it in the selection is the “Crane Homeland” nature reserve, named after the story of the same name by Mikhail Prishvin. This is not a farm or a petting zoo – the cranes do not come out to feed to tourists and certainly do not allow themselves to be petted.
The territory of the reserve is huge, and the cranes simply live in the local fields and swamps during the season. You can see them by going on excursions, which take place here regularly, and also from your own home, if you buy one in the surrounding area. In spring and autumn, noisy flocks will stretch over the roofs – very romantic, isn’t it?
The infrastructure in Taldom is not the most developed – the distance from the capital affects it. But there are shops and medical centers, and the city is gradually coming to life – there are museums, a cinema, and cafes. If you want to be closer to nature and crane places, choose sites in Yeltsynovo, Butraki, Voronovo. The cost of a hundred is not high here: you can find an option from 50 thousand rubles.
5. Khlyabovo (Mytishchi)
Many people dream of living near big water, but not everyone can afford it: the banks of most reservoirs near Moscow are built up with expensive cottage communities, and you can’t beat the prices. The village of Khlyabov, located on the banks of the Ikshinsky reservoir, is a compromise solution in this sense. The cost of one hundred square meters here starts from 450 thousand rubles.
Within walking distance is a country club with an equipped beach. Here you can not only relax on a sun lounger and swim in the Moscow Canal (it is separated from the reservoir by a lock), but also play beach games, sit in a cafe and even swim in the pool.
Khlyabovo is also located between two largest yacht clubs – “Rassvet” and “Pestovo” with their special atmosphere and the opportunity to try yourself as a captain. If you wish, you can also learn sailing – one of the best schools, Cape Verde, is 20 minutes away.
6. Chekhov urban district
An interesting option for those who are raising children as athletes and expecting great results. In Chekhov there is not only the Olympic Reserve School No. 4, but also the largest hockey school of the Vityaz club in the Moscow region.
At the same time, the city itself is very comfortable: the infrastructure is metropolitan, although things are not very good with state medicine.
To avoid being stuck in traffic on the way to school and at the same time be closer to nature, choose sites in Kostomarovo, Venyukovo, Khlevino. There, the forest is just a stone’s throw away, and the prices are not in the city: you can get a hundred square meters for 150–200 thousand rubles. In Chekhov itself there are also plots, but more expensive – from 500 thousand rubles.
7. Bullfinches
Another ancient village, the name of which, by the way, was written as “Snigiri” until 1955. First of all, the village is known for its military past: it was here in 1941 that the line passed where the German troops were stopped. In honor of this event, a museum was opened.

And at different times, the singer Ivan Kozlovsky, actress Lyudmila Maksakova, composers Aram Khachaturyan and Rodion Shchedrin with their brilliant wife, ballerina Maya Plisetskaya, lived in the dacha cooperative “Masters of Arts”.
Next to Snegiri is the largest city in the Moscow region, Istra, with all its attractions. First of all, this is the New Jerusalem Monastery and one of the most significant museums in the Moscow region – the New Jerusalem Historical and Art Museum. And not far from Snegiri is the Istra Reservoir, which is also very pleasant!
8. Old Ruza
There is such an association – “The Most Beautiful Villages of Russia” (ASKDR), it was created under the patronage of its French “sister”, the oldest of such associations in the world. Alas, none of the villages near Moscow are included in it yet: the closest participant in the rating is the village of Velikoye in the Yaroslavl region.
Having examined it, Tsian.Magazine came to the conclusion that Russian Switzerland is no worse! The village and village of Staraya Ruza are, without a doubt, beautiful: contemplating the local landscapes is literally breathtaking, because the elevation changes in the area reach 80–100 m.
BY THE WAY
And these places are also filled with history: the ancient Russian city of Staraya Ruza experienced the Mongol-Tatar invasion (unfortunately, it was not able to fully recover from it).
The Moscow River winds through the area and is full of excellent beaches. There is also a dense and very mushroom forest here – we personally checked it. Plots in Staraya Ruza cost from 100 thousand rubles, and picturesque ones cost a million.
9. Yakovlevo (Sergiev Posad district)
Yakovlevo and its neighbors Putyatino, Gagino and Istomino are interesting for their proximity to the ancestral settlement “Velikoye”. It was created in 2005 by followers of the author of the book “Anastasia” from the series “Ringing Cedars of Russia” – the writer and creator of his own teaching, Vladimir Megre.
The settlers adhere to the philosophy of solitude, which, however, does not prevent them from going to work in Moscow. In the settlement itself, plots are also for sale – currently there are two available (however, their size is calculated in hectares, because it is planned to build a “family estate”, cultivate the land and grow agricultural products).
However, in the area there are also quite secular locations that are no worse. Gagino, for example, is famous for the fact that Fyodor Chaliapin and Iola Tornagi were once married here. There is also excellent ecology and a wonderful Torbeevskoye Lake with an equipped beach. Locals, however, do not go to the lake and make do with swimming in the Molokche River.
It is also worth knowing that nearby is the holy spring “Gremyachiy Klyuch” and Sergiev Posad with all its rich infrastructure. Plots in these villages cost an average of 70–80 thousand rubles per hundred square meters.
10. Pushchino
Perhaps one of the most romantic locations in the Moscow region. Firstly, there are beautiful views: the Oka River, hills, forests, fields and even its own waterfall – a paradise for artists. Secondly, there is the Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory – a paradise for star lovers. The observatory regularly hosts festivals and other specialized events – for example, there is a summer school for young astrophysicists.
Among other things, the local landscapes are quite convenient for observing the night sky – there are few large cities around that interfere with the operation of telescopes with their lighting. And next to Pushchino it will also be interesting for archaeologists: here are traces of an ancient settlement.

Due to the distance from Moscow, plots here are not very expensive – from 50 thousand rubles per hundred square meters. At the same time, there is a good infrastructure of Serpukhov nearby. Among the shortcomings is the Lesnaya landfill located nearby, but it has been closed for a long time and reminds of itself less and less.
